About the role
Royal Veterinary Center is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinarians and provide day-to-day care for animals at our Doha clinic. Key responsibilities: - Provide basic care for animals: feeding, watering, exercising, and monitoring health and behavior - Prepare animals and examination rooms; restrain and calm animals during procedures - Handle, clean, and sterilize veterinary equipment (syringes, IV lines, surgical instruments) - Administer medications under veterinarian guidance (oral, topical, injections) - Assist veterinarians during surgery: hand instruments, monitor vital signs, maintain sterile environment - Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility to prevent disease spread - Daily health checks of animals staying at the center; inspect housing facilities - Manage patient records: treatments, medications, vital signs - Provide first aid and stabilize injured animals in emergencies Compensation & benefits: - Salary QAR 2,000 / month (Basic 1,000 + Housing 400 + Transport 300 + Food 300) - Free basic monthly food (rice, oil, sugar, milk) - 30 days paid vacation every 2 years, 14 days sick leave/year - Hamad Medical Corporation health card - Working schedule: full-time, approximately 50 hours/week - Probation: 3 months
Requirements
- Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in animal care preferred - Comfortable handling and restraining animals safely - Attention to detail for record-keeping and medication administration - Good communication and interpersonal skills - Punctual, optimistic, and willing to take on urgent tasks - Ability to maintain strict hygiene and sterilization standards
